Nana's Spinach Pie Pizza Share Tags: entree My little grandboys LOVE to eat spinach when it's served this way! Using a pie crust (not a pizza crust) rolled out on a cookie sheet "Pizza-style" with savory toppings, this fun spinach pie PIZZA is not just fun and tasy, it's healthy! Prep time: 35 minutes | Cook time: 20 minutes | Total time: 55 minutes | Servings: 4 2 cup(s) of Milk
1 Medium Onion- chopped
1 clove Garlic- finely chopped
10 ounce(s) of Frozen Spinach- defrosted, and squeezed dry
1/2 cup(s) of flour
2 cup(s) of Shredded Mozzarella cheese
1 pound(s) of Italian sausage- browned and drained
2 Pie crusts- 9" or 1 lg. crust 9"x18"
4 ounce(s) of Philly Cream cheese!
1/4 tsp. of ground pepper
1 1/4 tsp. of Salt
Steps
1. Spread pie crust(s) on a cookie sheet. Make sure to pinch an edge around crust to hold toppings.
2. Pre-bake pizza (pie) crust for 5-10 min. at 350 degrees until slightly brown and crispy
3.In a large frypan, Saute chopped onions and garlic in olive oil, until soft
4.Stir in flour, making a smooth roux. Add cream cheese slowly, and stir until smooth.
5.Slowly add milk, stirring carefully to keep the mixture smooth and creamy
6.Add spinach to cream sauce.
7. Spread spinach mixture on crust. Top with cooked Italian sausage. Cover with Shredded Mozzarella Cheese.
8. Bake Pizza (Pie) in oven at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes until cheese melts.
