Simple and proven recipes to increase your happiness

5. Chocolate… Make some brownies and share them


1lb. unsalted butter
1lb. semi sweet chocolate
4 c. white granulated sugar
8 large eggs
1 c. all purpose flour
Pinch of salt
1 t. vanilla

In a double boiler over medium heat melt the butter and chocolate. Whisking in the sugar a little at a time until all the sugar is incorporated. You will still see some granules. Whisk in the eggs one at a time. Add vanilla. Take off heat and using an electric mixer beat the chocolate mixture for 2 minutes at medium speed. Add the flour and salt and continue beating for 1 minute. Pour mixture into a foil lined Pam sprayed 15x18 inch sheet pan with a 1 inch lip. Bake at 350 degrees in middle rack for 40 minutes. Cool and set aside and refrigerate. The brownies are better to cut the day after they are made. Using a cookie cutter cut them into heart shapes and dust with powdered sugar.
