Creamy Sausage Orecchiette with KARATE Garlic and side of Rapini Share Tags: entreeHands down folks, this is one of my BEST recipes! Quick, easy, and delicious...this creamy, dreamy dish is a savory plate of heavenly tastes and textures!
Prep time: 35 minutes |Cook time: 15 minutes |Total time: 50 minutes |Servings: 8•8 ounce(s) of Philadelphia Chive and Onion Cream Cheese
•1 pound(s) of sweet italian sausage
•2 onions (sliced)
•1 tbsp. of fresh tarragon (chopped)
•3 tbsp. of butter
•2 tbsp. of olive oil
•1 pinch of sea salt to season to taste
•8 ounce(s) of sliced mushrooms
•1 pound(s) of orecchiette
•2 cloves of garlic (minced)
•1 pinch of red pepper flakes
•1 bunch of broccoli rabe (aka rapini)
Steps
1.First put on a big pot of boiling salted water and add your pasta (orecchiette). While that is boiling you are going to get the rest of your entree and your side dish cooking...
2.Put on another pot of water and bring to a boil. You will blanche your rapini in this water.
3.In the meantime, chop up 2 cloves of garlic KARATE STYLE! Add the garlic to a pan with some olive oil. Sautee. Add your rapini to the garlic and sautee. Season with some sea salt and red pepper flakes.
4.Next you will get your onions going in a sautee pan with some olive oil. Season with salt. In the meantime, you will be cooking your sausage with the casing removed. Break the sausage down with two wooden spoons to get it into bite sized pieces.
5.Cook the mushrooms with some olive oil and a pat of butter. Season with salt.
6.Add the tarragon to the sausage and the mushrooms. Once both are cooked, combine the mushrooms and sausage into one pan and set aside. The onions should be escorted into a bowl once they are finished cooking and set aside.
7.Once the pasta is done, drain and set aside.
8.Combine the sausages, mushrooms, onions, into one bowl and set aside.
9.In the (now empty) pasta pot, add the three tablespoons of butter and 1 (8 oz.) container of Philadelphia Chive and Onion cream cheese to the butter. Whisk together over low heat. Remove from heat and set aside.
10.Add the pasta to the cream cheese and butter mixture. Combine with a wooden spoon.
11.Add the bowl of mushroom, sausage, onions to the pasta and cream cheese mixture. Combine with a wooden spoon.
12.Serve the sausage orecchiette with a delicious side of rapini. Enjoy!
